    Quitting the Forces

finished my time as a soldier on contract last December. Even though my boss wanted me to stay I decided against. Too many incompetent assholes, too many unkept promises from the politicians and the assholes from the staff, too many working hours (had a 45 hours per week contract but worked up...

immediate action drills squad level - question

That's interesting, but I did expect something like this. Actually, I don't have a clue about the connections of the swiss army. Due the fact that we are neutral the connection to other armies are kinda restricted. In fact you don't hear too much about swiss soldiers working together with...

immediate action drills squad level - question

thank you guys. Well, it's normal to change things a bit. It would be interesting to know a bit more about the history of this technique. For how long does th CF use this technique? From where it came originally? Most of our WO instructors don't have a clue about it, some tell us it comes...

immediate action drills squad level - question

The swiss army is about to introduce a new infantry technique called "Sofortaktionstechnik" (immediate action technique) I was told the british SAS introduced this technique during the '50. Later the french army adopted it and the CF would use it as well. Does somebody here recognize this...

    C-7 trials

I've fired the AUG on several occasions, but only the civilian semiauto-version. It's very short, the optic is quite good even though it's more then 20 years old. Reliability isn't a factor. The only thing I don't like is the strange trigger, which rather sucks compared to the AR15 and the...

    C-7 trials

Would be interesting to know which other rifles were tested. Was the SIG 550 trialed as well?

    Gas training in CF?

no, as long as you don't get too much of it. Did the gas-thing about 10 times this year with about 200 recruits, nobody was ever hurt. After an hour or so you don't feel a thing. Just make sure you don't rub your eyes after you take off the mask.

    convincing parents

it is, but it works.  ;D They respect my decision and now they don't have a problem anymore. Well, the situation is a bit different, since we have a conscript army and my dad was a soldier as well and we don't do peacekeeping or combat missions. If I would join the CF I wouldn't tell my...

    convincing parents

Well, don't tell your parents, it's your own decision. When I signed my contract for NCO-school during my mandatory military service, nobody of my family knew anything about. I told my dad about it a week after the whole thing was done.

    What knife would you recommend?

My Swisstool served me well. Rarely used my issued bajonett for something else then opening the 155mm-bomb-paletts. The standard issue swiss army knife is pretty good also, but I replaced it with a Columbia River M16.

The "G Wagon" (Iltis replacment for Recce & the Reg Force)

Well, the G-Wagon, or Puch called in Switzerland, isn't that bad. We rarely have problems, even though our cars are more then 10-15 years old. The engine could be a bit more powerfull, but you guys get other variant anyway, so that shouldn't be aproblem
