    Training for ruckmarching

Does anyone use anything to simulate carrying a rifle during ruckmarch training? As slinging the rifle during the BFT is not an option in my unit, I find the whole dynamic completely different from training.

"Flash Mob" of protestors disrupt House of Commons Question Period

Hate to defend the CBC but they broke the story themselves: http://www.cbc.ca/politics/insidepolitics/2009/10/about-that-blood.html This seems to be a case of propaganda staged by the protesters. The CBC was merely punked in their enthusiasm for sensationalism.

    Where is the BIQ?

If you're lucky enough to do your BMQ at Dalton Armoury in Scarborough, the showers have individual stalls. However, between the sleep deprived stupor and speed of movement before inspection, you won't have time to worry about who's looking where and at what parts of personal anatomy.

You would've loved our PT tonight then. Death Soccer hurts. I will never look at the beautiful game the same way again.

    Let them fail!

Well, how about another anecdote for you then? I still drive a 1990 Nissan Pathfinder. Has 200,000kms on it and been in 6 accidents from every angle. Each vehicle that has hit that truck has been a right-off including an old, steel buick boat that t-boned me. The body shows its age, it creaks...

Musicians protest Military use of music as weapons

I consider it torture that I have to pass MuchMusic on the way to TSN when flipping channels. Not to mention all the teenage brain cells that are dying from watching Much and MTV.

Tory minority in jeopardy as opposition talks coalition. Will there be another election?

This is getting really weird now. Oliver Stone should be tapped to write and direct the movie: Jacques Parizeau (remember him?) is expected to come out in support of Dion. Why? Because Duceppe is suffering from a backlash of hardcore separatists who are unhappy with throwing himself in with the...

Tory minority in jeopardy as opposition talks coalition. Will there be another election?

It would be nowhere near as damaging for the Liberals. The coalition government means time wasted in putting together a cabinet and transition. The Liberals are telling Canadians they're acting in the best interest of the country and virtually side-stepping the separatist question. If Duceppe...

Tory minority in jeopardy as opposition talks coalition. Will there be another election?

Just a thought... What if Duceppe is playing everyone for the fool? All he has to do early in this coalition, should it take shape, is to make some unruly demand or refuse an "unreasonable" request for support of a Liberal action. The whole thing comes down and what's left of the Liberals is...

Tory minority in jeopardy as opposition talks coalition. Will there be another election?

More rumours from Mike Duffy regarding backroom deals of the coalition: - One billion more for Quebec in equalization payments. - 6 Bloc senators! - Elizabeth May a senator. Democracy in action.

Tory minority in jeopardy as opposition talks coalition. Will there be another election?

I imagine it would go something like this: GG: Steven, sucks to be you but Steph and Jack are the boys now. SH: Oh yeah? Well, we quit this gongshow. GG: We? What do you mean, 'we'? SH: I mean all 143 on this side of the house, 'we'. MacKay: Oh SNAP!

Tory minority in jeopardy as opposition talks coalition. Will there be another election?

Here's a suggestion that I've heard has been running around western radio stations today: All Conservative MPs should resign their seats en mass should the GG allow the coalition to form a government. This might force the GG to call a general election.

    Coddling children goes too far.

You reap what you sow. I've never heard of an educational institution failing someone for working hard and then kicking them out. Nowadays there is so much access to accomodation, those that have legitimate learning or physical disabilities should get the help they need. Getting rid of the "F"...

    Toronto Reserve Recruiting

Do not trust the word of any source other than the person(s) directly responsible for recruiting in the unit you are inquiring about. CFRC doesn't have a clue. Even if you talk to a member of a unit (you're interested in) that happens to be working at CFRC, take what they say with a grain of...

All things LASIK surgery (aircrew/other -- merged)

I had my eyes zapped a little over a year ago to meet combat trade vision requirements. The procedure I had was the lasik method. The lasik method has the advantage of faster and easier heal time. The disadvantage is the creation of a cornea flap and the fact that it's newer (and thus less...

    Passchendaele movie

Man, I don't know what movie you guys saw, but I didn't leave the theatre with the same feeling and I had such high hopes. It was boring, full of cliches, overly melodramatic, wrought with bad dialogue and over-the-top acting. The characters were shallow, cartoonish, embarrassing and annoying...
