Thanks, but it's ACS not AVS I'm looking at (in addition to AVN). I know AVN will be similar to Veh Tech, i.e. mechanical, but ACS seems to offer more variety, which I like the sound of.
I'm in the process of submitting a VOT from Veh Tech to either ACS or AVN Tech, and I've searched the forum but can't find anyone who's been down that road. For those with experience/knowledge/observations of either trade, I'd value your opinion on which you'd pick and why? Thanks
The link in the previous post pretty much covers the detail. I think more often than not it's like you say above, foreign nationals with previous mil experience. I enrolled as a Permanent Resident last year, so the policy was still being implemented up until fairly recently at least.
This was my attempt at objectivity, it may save you wading through reams of posts on this subject:

Thanks for the advice, I'll look into that. Not sure if I can do the the CFSA for my previous service as I'm already in receipt of my UK pension, but I'll ask anyway. I received the LS&GC in 2004 so I have 7 years extra that won't have been recognised, which should count toward earning the CD.
And you too, it's a shame we didn't get to finish that conversation. You were telling me you'd been wanting to enrol since you were small from what I recall. Good luck with your training ;)
I take your point George. I think 'constantly asking for them' is explanatory 'mission creep' to say the least, but I'll call it a day as it's clear that I'm the only recruit in this forum who knows what his pass mark was.
That's quite obviously not true.
It's quite possible that I'll want to CFR one day. If and when that day comes I'll have to sit the CFAT again. It's worth knowing whether I have a chance of meeting the required score to be an Officer.
Thanks for the reminder, but I hadn't forgotten.
Good for you.
So it seems.
I find that...
Just to clarify, I appreciate that 'pass marks' aren't published. When I took the eCFAT for Veh Tech I asked my recruiter what I needed to score and he told me (35/60 at the time). I was just interested what was needed for Inf Off and whether Dlew knew or not? ;)
I'd hazard a guess that when he enrolled they didn't recognize him as a skilled entrant. That would have impacted his entry rank, pay level and pay increment. They may now have recognized his skills via a PLAR and credited him accordingly, hence the back pay. I'm fortunate in that my PLAR was...
Landed in Toronto on 3rd Jan and activated my Permanent Residency (PR) :cdn: - part of a 10-day trip to look at schools, property, get SINs, bank account etc. Received an email from CFRC Toronto today saying that:

This was given to me by a CF recruiter during a live chat on forces.ca back in March 2009. I would imagine that the guide is still extant. Based on a recent conversation I had with my recruiting Captain, I would say that you have no chance whatsoever of being considered for enrolment until at...
There was definitely a limited period when travel costs were covered and I have a number of ex-foreign military friends who benefitted and had their costs covered (whether that contravened the rules I couldn’t comment). When I applied to the CF back in March 2010 the facility was still...
Here's my PXR based on the eCFAT I sat on Tuesday and a subsequent conversation with my recruiter. I won't discuss specifics as it's not allowed and defeats the object, however, hopefully this general overview and advice may help somebody......
