    Informing the Army’s Future Structure

What targets are you trying to strike at 5,600 km with a Canadian system and in what context? Like really? Just because you can do something doesn't mean that you should. What we need are systems that can strike in the 30 km to 120 km range band in support of tactical operations at the Brigade...

What exactly would you be trying to do with that system in Alert? What are you striking?

CAN Enhanced (Permanent?) Fwd Presence in Latvia

STEADFAST DEFENDER exercises NATO plans to reinforce Europe's defences. Canada is participating in a number of ways, including the movement of the additional equipment associated with the expansion of our contribution to the eFP as well as the relief in place of the eFP BG (there is a eFP BG...

Canadian Gold Mine in Congo Seized by Wagner

That a Canadian private company has business interests somewhere does not on its own mean that Canada has interests in that venture to the point of using force to protect it. Canadian companies that operate or invest in interesting places in the world do so with the assumption of risk. Canada...

Office Production Paths - CFR or Bust?

And with the inclusion of Reserve Restructure this thread has checked-off the entire Army.ca bingo card. I counted the Star Trek red-shirt as counting for dress - maybe that was offside?

Canadian Forces Reservists behind fake letter warning of wolves being released

The organization in question was not Int. But anyway.

Office Production Paths - CFR or Bust?

If we are talking about the development of junior officers then DP1 (Developmental Period 1) formal training is one very important aspect of that but it is not the only aspect. I expect an Army officer to arrive at their unit well-prepared to discharge their tactical duties. They should be able...

Office Production Paths - CFR or Bust?

I have served alongside some armies that only draw their non-specialist officers from the ranks. They tend (or tended) to have universal service. They also tended to have NCO corps with much less capability and responsibility than we do. Power was centralized in the officers. I don't think we...

CA uses Infantry and Armour DP 1.1 to achieve the same effect being described in the article.

What contemporary experience in NATO circles are you basing this on?

CAN Enhanced (Permanent?) Fwd Presence in Latvia

I don't want to minimize the span of control faced by the current eFP BG - they have way too many sub-units of way to many types. Some of that will be alleviated by the shift to an eFP Bde structure.

CAN Enhanced (Permanent?) Fwd Presence in Latvia

Its not a full four-troop squadron, so its not a "square combat team." In future years there will also be additional assets. The eFP BG and eFP Bde will employ their assigned elements according to their estimate of the situation.

CAN Enhanced (Permanent?) Fwd Presence in Latvia

The Light Battalion is kept at high-readiness, validated at Battalion level with a US IBCT at JPMRC or JRTC depending on the year. It has reinforcing the eFP as a critical task that will be rehearsed, along with pre-positioned equipment to enable its use there. This allows them to meet the NTM...

CAN Enhanced (Permanent?) Fwd Presence in Latvia

The Canadian light battalion will be a surge (flyover), providing another battalion to the soon to be established MN eFP Brigade. The Bde HQ will be Canadian-led but not exclusively Canadian. The surged MN Bde will have the eFP BG, the (surge) light battalion and the Danish battalion. The...

    Canada's tanks

No idea, but I imagine that the new turret is the long pole in the tent, so to speak. When we went from C1 to C2 we bought about 100 thermal sights that had Leopard 1A5s attached to them. We put those Leopard 1A5 turrets into our C1 hulls, although some C1 hulls got swapped out for the "newer"...

    Canada's tanks

Active protection systems are essentially countermeasures. The Israelis and Russians make extensive use of them. There are dazzlers that can work on other spectrums to blind the enemy optics (smoke grenade launchers would count I suppose) There are also active protection systems that detect and...

    Canada's tanks

To be clear, when I write here I do not speak for or represent the RCAC! I am only giving TangoTwoBravo's opinion, which when combined with $1.90 is worth a coffee. The position of the RCAC on any given issue is not my tea to spill unless its already been public domain. Having said all that...
