Well definitely learn from serious source. Especially most military training materials are online. Practice shooting skill will be 100% helpful. But still listen to your staff, and don't argue or show off.

Prepare yourself well before go there. Like learn how to use compass and AR15 rifle, Learn how to swim if  you don't know how, start jogging in the morning, do push-up and chin-up every day.....Army will "help" you, but it could be very unpleasant especially when you are lack of sleeping....

I'm sure CF will be a very good experience for you, and joining CF is a very good way to show your love of Canada. But something like "achieve genuine job satisfaction", well I mean maybe it's better not to be too idealism.........For your age, you wont get some super star jobs: pilot...

30 years old is not too old to join the Forces. But, infantry? I am not too sure. If you are in shape and do sports a lot, there is no problem. If you are not, you may suffer a lot for the training.

Not too many infantry guys will continue after 1 or 2 contracts. So plenty of chance to get in.

Nothing wrong with the food. But, it's not from 4 star restaurant in Paris.

There are european countries in deep trouble. But, there are a lot of countries over there doing much better than Canada.

If you were MP, for sure it's easier for you to join law enforcement. Yes, you have to start from the bottom, because you will deal with different situation. Especially, they need to brainwash you first.

Well, if you are single, they will make you pay for the barrack anyway. But, nobody really check where you are 2:00 am. Just don't be late tho. I have seen people living in apartments off base.

Of course you  can have your cars. Other than  basic, SQ and trade school, You can( have to) drive to work. In trade school, you can drive on your own time.

In regular, if you want to quit you can do it at any time, but it will take up to half year. It doesn't matter you are PAT, trade school or afterwards. I have seen a lot of people did it. You can even change your mind during releasing process. But, if you are young, maybe it's better to finish...

I don't think it's a problem. I have seen person who failed the test joined as infantry.

Well, I'll say if you can move up to elite groups, like JTF2, CSOR, pilot....or you can join a military sports team, then you can find somewhat exciting life............Otherwise, it's very boring.

Good thing of Weapons Technician is you wont work a lot. So, you will have a lot of energy to do whatever you want after 4:00 PM. Bad thing of Weapons Technician is you wont find a CIV job afterwards.

It's better to go for RCMP or regular police officer. But, it's not bad to get experience as MP then switch to law enforcement.

Easy to find 14.5 or 16 inch barrel AR, but 20 I don't see too many.
