I actually think that reading 6 of the regular Battalions to become regular Battalions of militia regiments would do a lot for cohesion between the two, similar to how The Black Watch and Queen's Own Rifles formally had regular Battalions.
Also depends on how far they backdate it. They use the word former military, so I'm guessing that their is the intention to backdate it at least a few years.

Since we have been moving back towards pre-unification uniforms and customs for more than a decade now, when are the Army and the Air Force finally going to go back to the open-hand salute and leave the Navy salute behind?
We have worn British style uniforms for a good part of our history. The current green ones were inspired by an attempt to make us look American. Looking back historically these new uniforms look a lot more Canadian than our current ones.

A blue version of that uniform would be a good uniform for the Air Force. I'm still not sure what they are actually trying to blend into while wearing CADPAT. To my knowledge, that's not the colour scheme of most offices, hangers, and hotel rooms.
