U.S. Navy blue on blue- F-18 shot down over Red Sea

A CIWS takedown was my best guess for an “easy” explanation for a single-ish point of failure. To shoot a missile at an aircraft on its landing approach is crazy to me.
 
I knew the STAB story was gonna get posted again, but I’m glad it was.
 
Sounds like the aircrew ejected just prior to the missiles gaining terminal lock. The whole thing sounds like it was a very busy airspace with drones. Missiles and multiple aircraft in the vicinity.

Is “Ripper” the tactical c/s for that aircraft? I know that Super Hornets are called “Rhinos” rather than Hornets to distinguish them on comms.
