Well, for what it's worth, some rather vocal atheists have been having a field day setting themselves up as opponents to all religion, rather than just non-practioners who ignore the theists, a la Hitchens, Dawkins, et al.  It really shouldn't come as much of a surprise that they aren't trusted...
