Keep my car, or buy a truck?

From my point of view, there's no reason to change vehicles, especially since you've only had this one for a year. I don't know who you've been talking to but I've never experienced or witnessed any sort of prejudice in the Forces because of what vehicle a person drives. Having a truck offers...

Does anyone have any pre-BMQ tips?

    1. Understand the value of sleep... But don't be "that guy" that dodges their responsibilities to catch a few extra winks. You have specific timings for lights out, and most people I did my BMQ (and later DP1 course) with would stay up a little later, reading, or busying around keeping...

Choice of Reg Force Infantry regiment ( merged )

When I went through BMQ we were simply given a posting message a few weeks before grad as to where our DP1 would take place. Everyone went to Wainwright. Since my arrival (and departure) nobody I've spoken to has been given the choice prior to DP1. Being said, we were asked for posting...

Application - How long does it take? (Merged)

Ok so... I know my experience with the recruiting process isn't the same as most have gone through, having started last august and shipping to BMQ tomorrow, but I do have experience in hiring and recruiting for other workplaces, having done a lot of hiring and recruiting myself. The fact of the...

    BMQ Regular Force 2005 - 2017 [Merged]

Where from NS m8? I swore in last Thursday and was the only Infantry. Cape Breton?

    Canadians in Jeopardy

My father once vied for a spot on the show. Made it to the final round of selections before having his ass handed to him by his opposing contestants (they made you play each other for spots then). The cost to travel to New York was astronomical and not worth it today. It's an American show...

    job offer - bmq dates

Those going this saturday (me and my cohorts) got about 20 days notice. Some get a month, some get a few weeks. Read the application samples and you'll see all sorts of variety. Don't worry. Many people wait for the call, and, from my last three weeks of experience, the more time you have to let...

    BMQ Regular Force 2005 - 2017 [Merged]

Yes. Eventually, once they clear a handful of courses (notice how the remaining 2015 start dates wrap up soon?) I'm sure they will update with their springtime/summertime training schedule. With April being literally only a month and a half away, I can see this list updating in the coming weeks...

    BMQ Regular Force 2005 - 2017 [Merged]

Just got off the phone with the recruiting center. I leave Halifax on the 27th for BMQ on the 29th as well. I was offered Infantry. Looks like I'll be seeing you guys pretty soon.

What's the Dumbest Thing You've SEEN Today?

I work in a hospital lab and we get people bring odd stuff in all the time. Todays oddity was a guy who brought a urine sample in for testing...in a cheese whiz jar.

    Need help picking a laptop

Judging by system requirements for the program you mentioned (a game by the looks of things), both of these will be alright. The processor on the MSI is nicer by a bit, and you really won't notice the difference in RAM unless you stress the machine. They are both running the same graphics card...

    Finally got the call

Congrats! Until I began my application and started looking into things, I had no idea how long of a wait it could be. Glad to see you got the call. Good luck!

Canadian military to employ specialist New Brunswick soldiers

Being from Miramichi (40 min from Bouctouche), I couldn't help but bust a gut over this. At first this had a "Windtalkers" kind of vibe to it. Then, it slowly clicked that this was going to be much, much funnier. Nicely done on the find.

    And now I wait.

I'm a 26 year old who's hummed and hawed about the military ever since I was a young one. I did 7 years as an air cadet, and commanded my squadron the last two. Pretty much the thing that's stopped me from applying the last 8 years has been the relationship I was in. She was absolutely against...
