You have to take off any optics though right?

I've occasionally wondered if one of those 'tip off' 3x magnifier mounts that are popular when used with the EOTechs might work without having to come off.

Thoughts?

I think the problem with a 3x magnifier would be that you only end up magnifying the front post, would that work the same as magnifying a holosite? I've tried a few optics on it but don't like not being able to fully fold it. Also I'm worried about damaging the optic in transit/storage.

The mount in the video you linked looks awesome. I'd probably buy that if I had the gen 2 fore end, I wonder if that wound would work on a quad rail?  Do you think keeping tension on the bolt group like the guy does in the video with the para-cord with be detrimental to the spring?

How do you like the .45s?  I wanted to pick up a 1911 too but I'm really on the fence about introducing a new caliber to the house. Everyone says .45 is really cost prohibitive to shoot too.

.45 isn't too expensive, especially if you can buy bulk or know someone that reloads.

I've got lots of 9's, some .40s and lots of other calibres. For ever, my go to has been a Colt Commander stuffed full of Wilson Combat parts. I have a couple of 9's that are coming close to upsetting that.

I just put my Fab Defense KPOS up for sale, it's a chassis stock for the Glock 17/19.

Comes with a Vortex Strike Fire 1x Optic....asking $500...if you're interested, drop me a line.  I think I'm moving on to the SU-2000.

I like it, but I don't love it.

NavyShooter a kit like that is definitely something I'd pick up as soon as I buy my Glock 19.  I was side tracked by this little guy. Why the move to a SU-2000?

I want a beater, non-restricted, compact trunk gun.  SU-2000 seems to fit that bill quite nicely.

Right. I was thinking SU16 or SU22 for some reason. Ya the SU2000 would be great. I think I may sell my Gen 1 and buy a Gen 2.

These got approved by the RCMP (restricted) and pre-orders are being taken. They run for $1200 or so.

CZ Scorpion EVO
Not the Canadian model as you can see :)

Sig MPX is in the same boat (restricted) but is double at around $2500.

Any opinions on the Sig Sauer 1911 Tacops vs the Sig Sauer 1911 Scorpion?

The FDE coloured scorpion might add some colour but I'm not so sure about the flat trigger. Tacops magwell is frame based and the scorpions magwell comes from the grips I believe. Other that, the colour and trigger they seem identical.

Honestly I liked the idea of the 9C which is why I bought it, seemed like a great carry piece
-- the problem was at my LE job, we need WML's and 4" min barrels for a duty gun - and I prefer to have a WML on an off-duty carry piece - so admittedly I just carry my duty gun 24/7 - and run the BUG when I am not also carrying a long gun.

Now there are some lights that the 9C can use - the new InForce pistol light - my problem is I am pretty wedded to SF for WML's after seeing so many other brands crash and burn.  I'd like to get a Shield sized M&P that took the double stack mags - call it the M&PK  ;)
as the idea of only needing 1 type of pistol mag really makes me happy.

Is the M&P Compact 2.0 the M&PK ?

Well, for those of you who remember the A-Team, and how they used the Mini-14 on a regular basis (Actually, I think they used the AC-556, which was the select-fire version of the Mini) there is a reason that they didn't have much success in hitting things....they are as inaccurate as, well, maybe a shotgun.  This one doesn't group, it patterns.

Inaccurate rifles don't interest me much...this one doesn't keep them on paper at 100m very well.  25m is about max...and that was a 4-5" group.

I'm, well, not appalled, but disappointed.  It's a fun rifle to shoot, I just wish it was accurate.

There's a bit of a joke that the two happiest days in a rifleman's life are the day he buys his Mini-14 and the day he sells it.

More seriously, they always were renowned for mediocre accuracy at best. Ruger reportedly did a revamp of the design in 2005 (specifically how the gas system interacts with the barrel) that supposedly improves accuracy greatly, but I never did get one of the newer ones, so I can't vouch for the improvements.

I used to have a couple of Mini-14s, and have none now for that exact same reason. I concur with Townsend Whelan that "only accurate rifles are interesting".
