End Dec 2017 pay statement
« on: January 05, 2018, 10:11:43 »
I never received my end dec 17 pay statement, and yesterday my mid Jan 18 pay statement was released.

Interestingly, my end dec pay included a large backpay ( from a few years of not receiving specialist pay I was entitled to) .

The backpay was a little short from my calculations ( which simply used the difference in pay I received from the pay I should have received month by month , and applied a tax rate appropriate).  Others who have received backpay over the past year received a pay statement with a detailed month by month breakdown of the backpay , the total gross backpay and the taxes.

The clerks don't seem too worried about this, and provided me with a printout from the pay system ( a series of pages with confusing fz codes etc) that neither them or me can totally comprehend.   The sheets they provide only give total additions and deductions, not broken down so I can double check.

I think its crazy ( and rather " convenient" ) that I don't seem to be entitled to a pay statement, and need to justify it somehow as to the reason I want to double check the numbers used in calculating my backpay.

thoughts ???  tips ???

Anyone telling that you are not entitled to a pay statement is simply wrong.  All employers have a legal requirement to provide them.  Full stop.

Have you looked in EMAA?  Although you may not have received one via email (perhaps lost in the internet ether?), there may still be one on EMAAA that you can get.

For ease of reference:  DWAN only link to EMAA: https://emaa.hrms.mil.ca/emaa/engraph/login_e.asp

Note that SSC is migrating servers this month; there are a handful of blackout periods where the system will not be available.

Not on EMAA either.   Its the first time in 20 years I didn't receive a statement.   Odd considering its one of the few that I need to verify myself.

At issue is,  I was frozen at Sgt ( spec 1 IPC 4 ) pay even though I was a WO in 2014.  In Jan 2017, they moved me to WO ( standard IPC 4 ) and recovered $1600 in " overpayment" from me.  ( $40 a month for 3 years ish)

What I want to verify is that my backpay is from a WO ( standard IPC 4 ) to WO ( Spec  and IPC increasing each year ) and not from Sgt spec to WO spec. ( which would result in me "eating" the $1600.)

additionally, the CoL increase was applied at my wrong rate of pay. I'm not sure  if this was corrected.

Unfortunately, I have no way to verify without a F***ing pay statement.

If it's not on EMAA, get your pay office to raise a trouble ticket to DMPAP for you, stating that there was no end-Dec pay statement.  Unfortunately, members can't do it directly, but must go through the pay office.

That said, DMPAP is usually pretty quick to respond to queries.

and as the clerk you were dealing with couldn't walk you through your pay book an appointment with a supervisor and have them go through your pay fully with you. Anything they can't explain on the spot make note of and have them query with a follow up appointment booked for a week later.  Keep at it until the answers are provided.

Great advice.  Thank-you.   I hope it's just that easy !

my clerk logged a trouble ticket with DMPAP.  Few days later, pay office replies that issue was fixed and for me to check EMAA.   EMAA checked, and still no end dec pay statement.  Clerk contacts DMPAP, gets told to have me check EMAA again.  I checked EMAA, and still no statement  ( yes, I refreshed page etc. )

finally received my statement via an attachment in email from DMPAP !  I am surprised it took this long, and was so difficult.   Of note, the statement still is not on m EMAA.
