Huh???
It's he exactly the same size as the current rifle platoon. It's just exchanging a rifle section for a weapons section. The company would have 8 rifle sections and 4 weapons sections, not the platoon.
This means a company of 3 platoons with a total of 9 rifle sections and 3 weapons sections.
How about a company of 4 platoons with a total of 8 rifle sections and 4 weapons sections? This would require a fourth platoon headquarters and one additional LAV-6.0, but would give the company four...
Don't forget the SAAB/Bombardier Globaleye built on the Global 6000 which is manufactured in Canada.
Combine this with the SAAB/Bombardier Swordfish also built on the Global 6000 as a replacement for the Aurora and the RCAF could have a decent fleet on a common aircraft. This would...
I've read that the Airbus will be designated the CC-295, but what is it being named? Airbus calls the MPA variant the Persuader. That's the only name I've ever come across for any variant.

Here is an article indicating that 51 Field Engineer Squadron deployed with 3 Field Troops and a support troop. 150 personnel and 50 vehicles.
Each field troop was attached to a rifle company.

I know this thread has been quiet for 6 years, but I have some question about engineers in Afghanistan.
I've recently re-read a few different books surrounding Task Force 1-06 (1 PPCLI BG), Task Force 3-06 (1 RCR BG) and Task Force 1-07 (2 RCR BG) in Kandahar. In all three cases the battle...
I agree. By disbanding the 3rd Bn's and rolling 6 platoons into the 1st & 2nd Bn's you still have PY's from the remaining 3 platoons, all the Coy HQ's, and the combat support and administration companies. Would you want to make to make company groups similar to the French?
All I was thinking with 3 Coys of 4 platoons was less support required to form independent company groups. ie. engineer troops, FOO parties, guns, CSS
Since the rifle company seems to be the force employment level in current operations. The USMC is moving towards what they call the Enhanced...
I don't want to rehash the previous discussions. And I don't want to diverge into several other what if's. I just have one what if.
If there were the LAV's to do it, and the LIB's were going to be disbanded to reinforce the mechanized infantry battalions, would you prefer 4 rifle companies...
Here's an option that strays from the historic organizations of battalions, regiments and brigades. The idea is to organize into deployable units. We don't deploy battalions or brigades. We deploy battlegroups. This also coincides with the Reserve Force Structure of 10 small brigade groups...
This is exactly the turret I was talking about, I just couldn't find the picture. I would think a battle group commander could make good use of a squadron of these.
